Joys and Concerns
Please keep these concerns in your minds and hearts in the coming days.
Within our church family:
• We celebrate the marriage of Matt Unger & Lindsey Helstern on June 4. Matt is the son of Denny & Becky Unger and the grandson of Art & Phyllis Hunn.
• Those Deacons we hold in prayer this week: Susie Klingler, Bea Knarr, David Kreps, Richard Livingston, Mary Lutz and Virginia Manges.
• We pray for those who were unable to worship with us due to their current health limitations, including: Kathryn Becker, Betty Campbell, Helen Hollenberg, and Evan Kinsley.
• Joan Fahs recovering at Peabody Transitional Care following hip replacement surgery on Wednesday, June 1.
• Dorothy Whitmore recovering in Timbercrest Healthcare following hip replacement surgery on Thursday, June 2.
• Mike Brown hospitalized in James Center in Columbus, Ohio. Mike is receiving treatment for pneumonia and is responding to the medication. As of now, the stem cell transplant is on hold.
• Russ Hoover at home with oxygen following a recent hospitalization. Russ will have further consultation and tests this coming week.
• Pauline Delk recovering at Timbercrest following a recent hospitalization this past week.
• Steve & Donna Priest who will be Counselors this next week at Camp Mack.
Within the wider community:
• Our sister church in El Salvador, Emanuel Baptist on their 47th anniversary. We pray that they may feel called to minister in the community surrounding the church building, that they may rededicate themselves to peace and justice in their country and that their members feel empowered by God’s spirit to minister to the poor and hungry on their doorstep. In celebration of the anniversary, 14 persons were baptized Sunday, further committing themselves to discipleship.
• We pray for peace.
CROP Walk Closure
Thanks to everyone who contributed in some way to the succes of this year's CROP Hunger Walk. The recent Wabash County CROP Walk raised just over $7,900 for Church World Service to use in fighting hunger and poverty world wide. On a wet, cold day, 79 people walked, as many do worldwide, walking daily for food, water and firewood regardless of the weather. Forty eight participated in North Manchester while 31 walked the Wabash city route. Manchester Church of the Brethren had the most walkers with 18, who had support from many more members of our congregation.

Wednesday at Warvel
This summer, in addition to their Sunday morning worship service, Eel River Community Church of the Brethren will be adding a weekly worship service on Wednesday evenings at Warvel Park in North Manchester. The Wednesday night services will begin at 5:30pm with a potluck and fellowship, followed by a “nontraditional” worship in the pavilion nearest to the Scout Hall.
The potluck will be provided by members of the church and is available to anyone who might be wandering by, is curious about what is happening or would just like a bite to eat. Each person is encouraged to bring his or her own plate, utensils, and beverage, plus a dish to share.

After we have had time to eat, we will gather for prayer, Scripture, and discussion around the theme “Changing the World.” This will involve an in-depth look at Jesus’ teachings (especially his parables) as told in the Gospels. All are invited to bring their comments, questions, and musings.
These services began June 1 at 5:30pm in Warvel Park and take place each Wednesday evening for the months of June, July, and August. Invite a friend or two and meet us at the park, rain or shine!
Emanuel Baptist Anniversary
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We want to share this announcement of our 47th Anniversary. We have a big Worship open to all our brothers and sisters from different churches and communities coming to join us the next Sunday, June 5. We also have other days to celebrate in June. It's good to know that there are so many people rejoicing with us in the distance as you.
With wishes of Blessings and Peace,
On Behalf Emmanuel,
Esther Acosta
